Finishing the Glossary!

Yeah! I'm almost done my glossary, but when I checked Filezilla it wouldn't let me log on. I probably made a spelling mistake, so I'll check with one of my friends later today.

After I finish all the hard part on the glossary (the content) I'm going to make it look super awsome with a new CSS!

In class today I figured out why my glossary had so many errors while validating. While I was working on it, I was so sleepy that I ended the <dt> tags with </dl> which really didn't make any sense at all. Now, however, my glossary is good to go!

For homework today we had to do the normal stuff, like work on choosing who will be class rep and who will be DJ for studio 218. I would be the DJ, but unfortunately I'm not very law abiding when it comes to music.

Definitions!

Today our main goal was to make progress on our glossary, and most of the students in our class are doing pretty well!
For homework today we had to validate and work on our glossary websites, and we had to make a page on wikispaces for the Class A Rep. I see that Lisa has already taken care of that, and because of what she wrote I'm definately voting for her!
The coolest part about class today was with the DropBox. I learned that I can get DropBox on my ipod touch, so I can upload videos and songs and pictures from my iPod straight to the computer! Its like a free USB drive that takes up no space at all!

I'm kind of crammed with homework today, so I better get started on that. Bye for now!

Glossary Galore

Today in ICS2O7 we were mainly taking notes. We learned about how to make a glossary, and also about something called DropBox. Its basically like a USB drive, except it's on the internet so you don't have to carry it around. It backs up all your files, and we already get 2.25 GB free!

For homework we had to make our glossary skeleton, with the definitions of everything in our glossary. We also had to make it valid.

I tried to find Mr.Arkin after school, but I guess he left the school early. Unfortunately I still haven't handed in my website even though it's finished, so I'm just going to have to wait to find out what happens for that.

I guess today we had more homework then usual, but it's not too much.

URGENT!

This is a really important post for me.

Today as I was putting up my website.html, the server just stopped working. Now i'm left with no website on the web, so technically I don't really have anything. I hope this won't completely fail me...

For homework today we had to finish our assignment, since it was due today. I'm pretty sad now since I'm not quite sure what's going to happen to my website...

In class today I learned on how to make proper internal links, and I also got some quality work finished.

Anyways, I'm just going to start trying to get back into FileZilla, I just hope that it isn't going to be offline for a long time...

Almost done!

Today is our last day to finish up our super-power autobiographies, so I'm sure there's gonna be a lot of people doing some last minute work! Thankfully, I'm almost done. I just need to fix a few things on how it looks, and check to make sure that everything I did was valid, spelled correctly, and easy to read!

For homework today, it was pretty obvious on what we had to do. For the people who weren't at class today, it was to finish our autobiographies. The due date is tommorow at 10:00 p.m., which should be enough for everybody to finish in time!

During class today I learned how to make my images just where I want them in css, and how to make my borders look cool as well! We also learned how to leave comments, mainly to help tell people what colour we are using instead of having them check up on a hex-code colour chart.

I'm pretty proud about what I accomplished on my website so far, the last time I tried making a website it was just text and a solid green background with some banners I found on the internet. And it wasn't exactly a website, since it wasn't on the web.

Finishing up the assignment!

Hey! Yesterday was my birthday, so I was pretty distracted by my gifts to make that much progress on my website.

Today at class we learned about how to use the same css between your website and your index, which could be pretty useful for somebody who has a special theme in their work.
For homework today we had to finish or at least get close to finishing our websites, since its due on Friday.

Nothing else really happened, so i'm just going to work on my website.

The story begins!

Today is the day that we found out about the due date for our website, and it is also the day where I came up with my spectacular idea for a super-power! Well, I think it's spectacular.

Anyways, for homework today we just had to keep making progress in our websites. We're all on our final stretch, even though it seems like the only thing we're doing is making our websites look pretty.

During class today, I spent most of my time just thinking about how I wanted my website to go. I originally wanted a super-power relating to water, but I couldn't think of a way to make a good story with that. Instead, I just came up with flame vision which would be quite easy to make a story for. Once I got home, I realized that flame vision may be easier, but it didn't really seem as cool as I wanted the super-power to be. I think I've come up with something good, but it's up to Mr.Arkin and the rest of the class to judge that.

Other than that, nothing very interesting happened today. Oh well!

Studio 218?

Today was a pretty cool day, since we learned that on fridays, things work differently in computer science...
We now get to pick one DJ every week and they have to play a list of clean and legal songs for us. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to be DJ since I don't meet one of the criteria.
*Cough*-legal*Cough*

Anyways, Our homework today was to...
Darn, I can't read my own writing in the agenda. It looks like it said that I have to google search "treading". I'll ask one of my friends.
We also had to continue on our assignments, and think about who we want as DJ, or what songs we might want!

In class I was finally able to validate everything! Now both my index and website have valid html/css.

As for studio 218, It's going to be my birthday soon and I think my mom is getting me an ipod, so I'll try and keep my songs legal =D

My Daily Blog!

WOOPS! I accidentally forgot to put up my daily blog yesterday...

Anyways, yesterday for homework we had to have our index.html valid in html and in css.
Validating was a lot trickier than I thought, because the errors and warnings were quite difficult to understand. After fiddling around with it for a while, I managed to find all my mistakes and validate my index!

For homework today, we had to read over the typography section in touque.ca. It looked complicated at first, but it gave me a lot of good tips to keep my website easier to read, and more appealing too.

In class most of us were working on validating things, since Filezilla was all filled up in the first few seconds.
We also learned a few things about our internet browsers, and how to increase our efficiency without wasting time clicking on the mouse. I found out that there are a lot of keys that can really help you go faster, like pressing "alt + f4" to close the page.

At the end of class i'm sure most of us were able to get our index.html valid, and we also now know how to use a computer pretty well without a mouse!

Sixth day at ICS2O7 :)

Today in computer science most of us were either working on our websites or uploading our index.html to Filezilla. I wanted to check something on Filezilla, however there were too many people logged on.
For homework we hadn't really been assigned anything, other then making progress on our websites.
Today was pretty scary because I actually lost my usb stick twice! Once it was in my bag, and the other time it was in my jeans.
I checked out how some of the other kids were doing in their projects and some of them were really outstanding. Others... not so much.
I'm making fair progress on my website, however for some reason I just can't get the background image to work. I had it working before, but once I changed the picture it just came as a blank background.
At the end of class, I realized that it had been a pretty unproductive day for me. I hadn't manage to do anything except fiddle with my website's html.

The REAL Fifth Day at ICS2O7

Hey! Today is our actual fifth day at ICS2O7, contrary to my post on Saturday.
In class today, we all had to download Filezilla and post our index.html which would link to our websites and blogs. It didn't have to be complete yet, but it had to be uploaded.
For homework, we had to upload our index if we hadn't done so already and we had to work on our websites.
People in class asked alot of good questions today, so I found it very informative.
At the end of the class I learned a few things about how to properly connect to the FTP address, and then how to upload our progress. I also learned how to view the CSS of a website thanks to Mr.Arkin, because I thought there might have been another button to push instead of "View Source". That's all for now!

Fifth Day at ICS2O7 :)

Well, today isn't really the fifth day at ICS2O7, considering its the weekend. No matter, I'm still going to report what I have done today!


I noticed that yesterday even though i made a blog, for some reason it didn't publish. I only noticed today, where when I checked the posts I made it had said that my last blog was only a draft.

I'm not quite sure how to link the index.html to our website and blog, but I hope it will be the same as how we linked our stylesheets to the html page.

I've been lazing around most of the day, so not much progress has been made to the autobiography! I'll do my best to finish it all up tommorow, but I don't want to submit it yet just in case theres any way I can make it better. Even though we haven't been given a due date yet, I still want to be finished or at least close to finishing by Monday!

Fourth Day at ICS2O7 :)

Today it was a very calm day. Everybody was busy working on their websites, and I finally learned how to use stylesheets! There are still a lot of things I don't understand yet, but I think I'm okay for now.
For homework we have to finish up our autobiography. I hope the super-power I chose wasn't too cliche, but I'm sure the mark doesn't rely too heavily on our choice in super-powers.
The main problem I'm facing now is that my notes were a little messy, so I'm not quite sure where to indent everything. I'll get that checked out on Monday.
Anyways, I'm still experimenting around with stylesheets, so I'm probably going to start my autobiography over to get a clean slate.

*I know this was posted on Saturday, I accidentally saved this as a draft instead of publishing it on Friday, which is why it didn't post yesterday.

Third Day at ICS2O7 :)

        Today was quite a day! When we went to the computers to try some new things with our websites, we realized there were still a number of students who couldn't log in to their account yet. The substitute teacher made the decision to send  me to the library, where I asked the librarian to help reset the passwords for the kids that couldn't log in. After that, everybody was doing fine.
         For homework I continued working on my autobiography, (which I think is going pretty well) and also wrote this blog about today.      
          Today's class was definately helpful, since both of the people around me knew something about html that i didn't, and vice versa.
          Im still not very clear with how to use the style sheets, but that's what I'm going to be working on after this! Hopefully by Sunday I should be done my assignment, so all of you should be able to see it on the FTP address =D

Second day ICS2O7 :)

            Today at school we had too take in too much information to handle, but that's why we have notebooks! =D
           We learned what the Super-Powered Autobiography assignment was and also how to make a simple website with stylesheets and html. =O
For homework I just made my first blog, and also made a small website about pokemon! O_o
Im gonna expiriment more with the website, because i haven't done that much with it yet.

At first I thought that computer science was going to be easy, but after today I realized that this could get quite complicated. Even so, it's still fun!
